Wild Rose Collective

Growing and Defending the Commons: A Central Oregon Eco-Socialist Perspective.

Wild Rose Collective is an eco-socialist organization in support of the desert ecotones of Central Oregon, exploring ecologies of imagination and possibility through history, music, art, fiction, poetry, essays, new media, and political action.

To construct a society based upon socialist, democratic and ecologically sustainable values, one that will survive the long term, we must also build a resilient commons and the local institutions to support it, including a strong shared culture capable of critiquing our current system and imagining a better future.

As Marx said, “the point is to change the world.” Our task is to create the world we want, not just talk about it.

We see a need to open up spaces in Central Oregon for literature, poetry, art, performance, music, and cultural/political criticism to shape our democratic eco-socialist vision, both online and out in the community. The new culture must be inclusive of all, including marginalized people of all ages, races, and backgrounds.

We support community empowerment in support of:

  • protecting of the ecosystem and its human/non-human inhabitants;
  • defending and growing community and the public commons;
  • municipal socialism, social housing, non-destructive transportation, and public gathering spaces, both online and in the real world in which we live;
  • solutions to war, global climate change, and exploitation of the earth;
  • indigenous stewardship of the land.
  • opposition to fascism, nationalism, racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of hatred;

Right now, we are more an idea than a functioning organization. If you share this vision, or think you might, consider helping us build it by joining the Wild Rose Collective. Email us here:
